I found this article on CrunchGear and thought it was worth noting...
The Boston Retinal Implant Program seems to have a prototype for a retina replacement device. Basically, it’s a bionic eye.
The device has to be waterproof, durable enough to last ten years in the body, and small enough to do its job while inside your little eyeball. The project spans multiple universities and hospitals and has been going on for decades, and they’re close to a working product.
